Portugal: Transport workers' strike causes travel disruption in main cities; air traffic controllers plan two-hour rolling strikes on 8-12 February (Revised 2 Feb)

Several transport unions on 2 February observed a 24-hour nationwide strike in protest at the government's austerity measures. Comboios de Portugal (CP) rail, metro and Carris bus services in the capital Lisbon and the city of Porto (Norte region) were affected, the latter particularly so. In addition, air traffic controllers are scheduled to observe two-hour rolling strikes on 8-12 February.
